Queensland Security Grant Opportunity for Small Business
Queensland small businesses now have access to significant government funding to improve security and reduce the impact of crime. The Secure Communities Partnership Program (Round 2) offers matched funding of up to $20,000 for eligible businesses investing in security upgrades. For many businesses, this presents an opportunity to upgrade facilities at half the cost while improving safety, reducing risk, and protecting profitability.What the Grant Covers
The program supports practical, crime-prevention upgrades, including:- CCTV and surveillance systems
- Alarm and duress systems
- Access control (keypads, fobs, smart locks)
- Security lighting and sensors
- Intercom and entry systems
- Physical security items such as safes and barriers
Funding Structure
- Grant amount: $5,000 to $20,000
- Co-contribution: Minimum 50% from the business
- Minimum project size: $10,000
Who Is Eligible
To qualify, your business must:- Have fewer than 20 employees
- Have turnover under $10 million
- Be based in Queensland
- Have been trading for at least 12 months
- Be GST registered with an active ABN
The Key Requirement: Crime Impact
Businesses must demonstrate impact from crime within the past 5 years. This can include:- Direct impact such as theft, break-ins, or vandalism
- Indirect impact if located near affected businesses (within 250 metres)
Evidence Requirements
Applicants must provide evidence such as:- Police reports
- Insurance claims
- Photos or CCTV footage
- Repair invoices
- Statutory declarations
- Local crime data
