Snapshot: July 2024 deadlines

1) STP finalisation — due 14 July

Make the finalisation declaration through STP by 14 July so employees can lodge their returns with accurate income statements. (Different timing may apply for closely held payees.) Australian Taxation Office

Tighten the process: Our Business Coaching program builds a 90-day payroll close so this becomes routine.

2) Monthly BAS for June 2024 — due 21 July

If you report monthly, your BAS is due on the 21st of the following month—so 21 July for June. Reconcile early and plan cash. Australian Taxation Office

Need help keeping BAS on time? See Business Tax & BAS for how we streamline prep and review.

3) Queensland payroll tax annual return — due 22 July 2024

Queensland businesses over the threshold must lodge and pay the annual payroll tax return by 22 July 2024 (rolled from 21 July due to the weekend). QRO Queensland

Local to you: Cairns accountants and Sunshine Coast accountants handle the wrap-up and reconciliations.

4) Quarter 4 (Apr–Jun) activity statement — due 28 July if lodging on paper

If you elect paper lodgment, the Q4 2023–24 activity statement is due 28 July (online lodgers generally have until 25 August). Australian Taxation Office

Short on time? We move you to online lodgment and set reminders inside Accounting & Advisory so quarter-ends don’t derail jobs.

5) Q4 PAYG instalment notice — payment due 28 July

If you receive an instalment notice (forms R/S/T), pay by 28 July. Consider a variation if income has shifted—preferably before the due date to avoid interest. Australian Taxation Office

Questions on varying? Book a quick chat via Book a Call.

6) Super guarantee contributions (Q4) — must be received by funds by 28 July

To avoid the super guarantee charge (SGC), Q4 super must be in employees’ super funds by 28 July. If you use a clearing house, allow processing time—payments count when the fund receives them (the ATO’s SBSCH has specific rules; check before relying on it). Australian Taxation Office

Missed it? You’ll need to lodge an SGC statement and pay the SGC by 28 August. We can triage calculations and lodge correctly. Small Business Essentials
